Meet Maya & Jordan - “Money, Values, and Marriage” Series

Money can be one of the trickiest areas in a relationship—not because couples aren’t committed, but because each person brings a lifetime of experiences, beliefs, and habits into the partnership. In this series, we follow Maya and Jordan, a newly married couple navigating these very challenges. They come from different financial backgrounds, earn different incomes, and have never combined finances before.

Maya grew up with financial instability, shaped by her parent losing a job and having to drastically change lifestyles.

Jordan grew up with more consistent financial security and a sense of flexibility around money.

Two different upbringings, two different relationships with money.

Their differences are real, and sometimes they clash.

Through their journey, we’ll explore how they:

  • Begin values-based conversations about money

  • Navigate conflicts around spending and saving

  • Define fairness when incomes differ

  • Decide whether and how to combine finances

  • Balance security and enjoyment while planning for their future.

The goal isn’t to get it “right” or perfect, but to show how couples can create a shared financial life rooted in love, empathy, clarity, and values. Along the way, you’ll find practical reflection questions to apply to your own relationship, whether your financial backgrounds are similar or very different.
